Bus Terminal

Just a few meters south of the intersection with the statue of Artemis, across from the Tourism Information Directorate is the Bus Terminal with buses going to almost anywhere in Turkey. It is also the starting point for day trips to Pamukkale (Hierapolis), Miletus, Priene and Didim.

Mary's House : reached only by taxi.

Railway Station

SPORTS & ACTIVITIES
Pamucak beach is perfect for every type of sports. The water is suitable for swimming eight months out of the year. The surrounding woods are great for walking and there is a horseback riding trail between Sirince and Çamlik. One can even take parachute lessons at the Ephesus airstrip.
SPECIAL DAYS, FESTIVALS and MEMORIAL DAYS

SELÇUK-EPHESUS CULTURE, ART AND TOURISM FESTIVAL

The Selçuk-Ephesus Culture, Art and Tourism Festival is an international festival that has been held every year the first week in May since 1962. Since 1977 the festival has been expanded to include folk crafts along with folklore and tourism of the previous festivals.

CAMEL WRESTLING FESTIVAL

This festival, held nowhere else in the world, is a one-day festival held in Selçuk the third week in January. With a parade the previous day, there is entertainment and an opportunity to see the camels. The wrestling starts at 10 o'clock on Sunday morning.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

Every year, there is a service at the House of Mary on August 15. This service is for Catholics who are on pilgrimage to the site. The service starts at 10 o'clock. There is also a service held the second Sunday of October, the date of the General Council held in AD 431. This service also starts at 10 o'clock.
TURKISH BATH
This bath is at the intersection of Cengiz Topel Avenue and the street leading to the train station. One can find the bath near the banks, Post Office, and police station on this street, and the parallel Namik Kemal Avenue. In summer this bath is open from morning to late into the night. The bath is open for women only to use ever Friday from morning to 6 pm. (Call: 0.232. 8926198)
CITY HOSPITAL
This 100-bed hospital is fully equipped and staffed by doctors, most of whom speak a foreign language, and has every kind of laboratory, X-ray, dental clinic, operating room and dialysis unit. There are also two health clinics and two private clinics. There are two ambulances at the hospital ready for any emergency and one at the Ephesus ruins site. There are also clinics at towns and villages in the surrounding area. (Call: 0.232. 8927036)
SWIMMING POOL
This pool built by the municipality is in the southwestern part of town on Esref Arna Avenue. In summer (May through September) all visitors are welcome. There is a separate pool for children.
SELÇUK-EPHESUS AIRSTRIP
This airstrip is about 2 km from Selçuk on the road to the ruins. It is good for short flights and for small planes traveling to places like Bodrum, Istanbul and Izmir. (Call: 0.232. 8926447)

TOURISM POLICE
This foreign language police unit was formed to handle or to pass on personal or public complaints and to give information relating to tourist sites.
TOURISM INFORMATION DIRECTORATE
The Selçuk Tourism Directorate of the Ministry of Tourism is open every day from 8:30 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 17:30 except weekends and holidays. From April 1 to October 31 it is open every day at these hours. Outside of working hours you can still obtain information via a paging service.
Both foreign and domestic visitors can obtain information from the Tourism Directorate through letter or telephone in Turkish, English, French and German about accommodations, dining, transportation, health, and museums and ruins, among other things.

ÇAMLIK OPEN AIR LOCOMOTIVE MUSEUM
The Çamlik Steam Locomotive Open Air Museum is 12 km from both Selçuk and Çamlik by road or rail. During the Aegean maneuvers, Atatürk made his headquarters at this station in the White Personal Train and followed the maneuvers along the coast from here. There are 25 assorted locomotives 50 to 80 years old that have been used by the Turkish State Railroad.
CLIMATE
In an area governed by a Mediterranean climate the summers are hot and dry and winters are cool and rainy. It never snows and rarely drops below 0° Centigrade. Water sports can run for ten months out of the year where such a mild climate exists.
